Marion Mackonochie (Medical Herbalist)
Marion is a qualified Medical Herbalist and member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. She has been interested in health and healing for many years and has a background in pharmacology, which particularly helps when treating people already on conventional medicines (herbs can be used safely alongside allopathic medicine following advice from a qualified herbalist).
Western Herbal Medicine is a holistic therapy in which the overall health of the person is assessed so that herbs, along with nutritional and lifestyle advice, can be used to gently encourage more balance and better functioning of the body. The aim is to harness the body’s ability to heal itself and a herbal remedy is tailored specifically for each individual.
As there is a focus on improving general health, the list of conditions that can be improved using herbal medicine is endless, however, stress, digestive problems, skin conditions, hormonal imbalances, allergies and hypertension are all commonly treated.

Alexandra Bennison (Acupuncture and massage therapy)
Acupuncture is an ancient system of medicine, utilising one’s own energy to promote health and well-being. The body is covered with a network of energy lines; meridians. Needles are gently inserted into specific acupuncture points along these meridians to adjust and re-establish a smooth flow of energy. When energy becomes blocked in the body it causes pain and dis-ease. Energy blockages can result in mental, emotional or physical symptoms. Acupuncture can be very useful in helping a wide variety of complaints. It can give pain relief in chronic conditions as well as treating more specific acute problems. It can be used safely alongside conventional medicine.
Alexandra is a mother of two daughters, who enjoys a healthy lifestyle. Her belief is that leading a wholesome life with good nutrition and exercise is the basis for health and happiness. However, she understands that the pressures of modern life sometimes force us to make compromises that can have a negative effect on our health. She uses Acupuncture and Massage Therapy to help people regain good health and harmony in their lives. Alexandra’s journey into natural health started with a passion for Yoga which led her to study Acupuncture at The International College of Oriental Medicine. This college specialises in Stems and Branches acupuncture, which bases treatments on individual needs and uses fewer needles. She graduated in 2002 and has since been practising across East Sussex.
Annette Blackman (East-West Acupuncture)
Annette holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Chinese Acupuncture, a Diploma in Tui Na (Chinese Massage), & over twenty years experience as a Trained Nurse (RGN),
Annette has a wealth of experience in both Eastern & Western Medicine, & recognises the best of both disciplines.
Annette came to acupuncture after many years of running a nursing home for the elderly. The clients would often have a complex mixture of conditions & arrive with a huge selection of medication, which although they may alleviate the condition, often had their own side effects. So a treatment that had the ability to help someone without these complications was very appealing. The seed of acupuncture and massage was sown.
This ability to see the "whole" person and not just a “condition” is the basis of all treatments.
This is accomplished through a thorough consultation & assessment.
Annette is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), the professional body for Chinese acupuncture in this country. Further details can be found on http://www.acupuncture.org.uk/
